WEEK 1: Kiera kicks coffee for New Years resolution

I’ve never had a New Year’s resolution before. But, hey. New year, new me. This year I’ve decided to give up coffee, specifically Starbucks. I go to Starbucks two to three times a week, and spend around $15.00 a week on it. I get holiday drinks, refreshers, paninis… You name it, I’ve probably had it at least once. The caramel brulee latte is my absolute favorite Starbucks. Its rich caramel flavor, perfectly balanced with the espresso, is so addictive I’m convinced there must be an addictive chemical stirred in.

Starbucks helps me get through the long days. The days where I’m at school early then go straight to work, then come home to a crazy amount of homework. My obsession with Starbucks is so deep that I now crave lattes more than any drink, ever. A simple coffee with cream and sugar does not match up to the luscious flavor of a caramel brulee latte. The energy from the shot of espresso pulls me out of my sleepy daze and awake enough to tolerate my first period class.

New Year’s resolutions are supposed to inspire you to improve the quality of life. I will be discovering and sharing whether or not Starbucks, or the lack of, will improve my life. Over the next few weeks I will be sharing the struggles and triumphs of defeating my Starbucks addiction.
