Weekly Sports Update 4/20-4/27

Boys’ Baseball (Max Berglind)
The baseball team won three games last week, one against DeKalb 9-8 and one against Benet 9-5. Their last game of the week was an 11-7 win against Waubonsie. Metea will play against Waubonsie again later in the week and will finish off with Marmion.

Boys’ Football (Max Berglind)
The football team lost in their final game of the season, 42-0 to Neuqua Valley. A tough year for the Mustangs, as they went winless.

Girls’ Lacrosse (Max Berglind)
Girls’ lacrosse had two games this week. Their next one will be in May as they take on Benet.

Girls’ Soccer (Grace Davidson)
The girls beat DeKalb on Thursday and tied 1-1 against St. Charles North on Saturday. The girls’ upcoming game against Waubonsie Valley this Tuesday was canceled, but they still have a game against Neuqua on Thursday.

Girls’ Softball (Max Berglind)
Girls’ softball won one out of their three games last week. The sole win came against Waubonsie. They have four home games this week.

Boys’ Tennis (Max Berglind)
The boys’ tennis team had three matches last week and will have three matches this week.

Boys Track (Tyler Perry)
The boys’ track team had one match last week against Waubonsie and Neuqua. Bilal Abrar came in fourth place for the 800m, Eden Sweeney placed fifth in the 100m and 200m, and Parker Champion finished ninth for the 400m. The boys will be back in action for their second match of the season against Dekalb and North.

Girls Track (Grace Davidson)
The girls’ track team opened up their season racing against Waubonsie and Neuqua. Junior Paige Foxhall placed sixth in the 100m, and Kyla Harris finished fourth in the 200m. Harris also finished first in the 400m, and Sarah Maggio ended her race in second place. The girls will race against Dekalb and North next week on Saturday.

Boys Volleyball (Tyler Perry)
The season started for the boys’ volleyball team last week, and they have completed two matches. Their first match was the season opener against Oswego East. Metea came out on the wrong end and finished the match 2-0. Their next game was against St. Francis, and the Mustangs struggled, once again losing to a score of 2-0. The Mustangs will face Wheaton Warrenville South on Wednesday at 6 p.m.

Girls’ Volleyball (Grace Davidson)
The girls lost a very tough first set 23-25 and second set 5-25 against Naperville North this past Tuesday. This tough loss brings an end to the team’s season.

Boys’ Water Polo (Tyler Perry)
The boys’ water polo team had two matches last week. Metea struggled against North losing 20-2 but bounced back and beat Hinsdale South 18-7. The Mustangs will play their next game today against Central at 6 p.m.

Girls’ Water Polo (Max Berglind)
Girls’ water polo won their game against Saint Charles East last week and have four matchups later this week.
