Weekly Sports Update 4-28-5/4

Boys’ Baseball (Max Berglind)

The boys’ baseball team had four matches last week. Metea performed well against Waubonsie and racked up a few good team wins. The Mustangs were also set to play against Neuqua until the game got delayed after eight innings. The game will be finished at a later date.

Girls’ Lacrosse (Max Berglind)

The girls’ lacrosse team was set to play against Neuqua for Monday, the game will be postponed until May 14.

Girls’ Soccer (Grace Davidson)

The girls outplayed Neuqua 2-1 in a DVC matchup, one of the goals being an own goal by Wildcats. However, Benet bested the Mustangs 3-1 this Saturday. The team has three upcoming home games this week against Naperville North, Naperville Central, and Bartlett. 

Girls’ Softball (Max Berglind)

The softball team had four matches in four days last week. The team was only able to pick up one win during the stretch. The solo win was against DeKalb, and the final score was 11-1. The next match for the girls will be against Neuqua on Tuesday.

Boys’ Tennis (Max Berglind)

The boys’ tennis team played against three different schools last week: Wheaton Warrenville South, Plainfield Central, and Waubonsie. Metea will play against Neuqua and Oswego East later this week. 

Boys Track (Tyler Perry)

The boys’ track team faced DeKalb and Naperville North for their only match of the week. Eden Sweeney placed third in the 100m as well as second in the 200m. Rameez Abrar finished in fourth place for the 400m. Sam Urbon dominated the 800m as he placed number one. Metea will be back in action this weekend at the Gus Scott Invite.

Girls Track (Grace Davidson)

The girls had a meet against DeKalb and Naperville North this Saturday. Naperville North came out on top in most categories, but Kyla Harris placed second in the 200m and first in the 400m. The girls also placed first for the 4×100 relay race with a time of 53.10.The team is playing against Wheaton Warrenville South in the Gus Scott Invite this Friday and against Naperville North on Saturday. 

Boys Volleyball (Tyler Perry)

The team had two matches last week and ended up finishing winless in those games. Metea faced Geneva for their first match, but ultimately the offense was not strong enough as they fell 2-0. The Mustangs faced Wheaton Warrenville South next. Metea was able to get on the scoreboard but still fell 2-1. The next game for the black and gold is against Wheaton North on Wednesday.

Boys’ Water Polo (Tyler Perry) 

The boys’ water polo team had a rough week as they lost 3-0 last week. Their first match was against Central, and the Redhawks were too much as Metea lost 12-2. Andrew was up next as the Mustangs were met with the same fate. Metea was able to keep it close and lost 14-12. St. Charles North would cap off the week for the black and gold. The Mustangs could not hold off against the North Stars and lose 14-8.

Girls’ Water Polo (Max Berglind)

The girls’ water polo team had three matches last week and lost all three games. The first one was a rough outing against Central with the game ending to a score of 17-0. Metea was able to keep it closer in their next game against Andrew, but lost 7-3. St. Charles North was the final match this week and the Mustangs could not prevail and lost 10-3.
