Weekly Sports Update 5/11-5/17

Boys’ Baseball (Max Berglind)

The baseball team dropped their series against Naperville North last week, and they head into their final series of the season against Naperville Central this week. 

Boys’ Lacrosse (Tyler Perry)

The boys’ lacrosse team had three games last week. They faced Naperville North, Geneva, and Naperville Central. The next game for the boys will be today against Neuqua.

Girls’ Lacrosse (Max Berglind)

The girls’ lacrosse team had three games last week, and they have two this week. Their games are against Naperville Central on Wednesday and at Naperville Central on Saturday. 

Girls’ Soccer (Grace Davidson)

The girls crushed DeKalb last Tuesday scoring seven goals. They pulled out their second win of the week against Waubonsie with a final score of 4-0. However, their winning streak ended after a 2-1 defeat against Batavia on Saturday. This upcoming week, the girls prepare for games against Neuqua, Naperville North, and Wheaton Warrenville South.

Girls’ Softball (Max Berglind)

The softball team won one of three games last week, with the triumph coming last Tuesday at DeKalb with a final score of 3-2. 

Boys’ Tennis (Max Berglind)

The boys’ tennis team had three contests last week and have three more all at home this week: Oswego, Benet, and Naperville Central.

Boys’ Track (Tyler Perry)

The boys’ track and field team traveled to Wheaton North to race against North and Central last Saturday. Eden Sweeney placed fifth in the 100m, but redeemed himself and finished second for the 200m. Bilal Abrar finished third in the 400m. Nicholas Mika placed fifth in the 800m. Vishnu Krishnan finished fifth in the 1600m, and Sam Urbon rounded the day off for the runners as he placed fifth in the 3200m.

Girls’ Track (Grace Davidson)

The girls competed against Naperville North and Naperville Central this Saturday. Syy Ellison placed first in shot put with a personal record of 8.50 meters, and Juliana Campolargo placed third with 23.70 meters in discus. Maggie Owen got second place in pole vaulting, and Olivia Bovell scored third in long jumping, also getting a new personal record. The girls’ next meet is against DeKalb and Naperville North on Friday. 

Boys’ Volleyball (Tyler Perry)

The boys’ volleyball team had a successful week as they beat both Neuqua and Naperville North. Neuqua was the first opponent, and the Mustangs beat them 2-0. North was next, and they were met with the same fate, as Metea won 2-0. Their next game is against Benet today at 5:30pm .

Boys’ Water Polo (Tyler Perry) 

The boys’ water polo team started their final week of regular-season action against Hinsdale South. They faced Naperville North later on in the week for the last regular-season game and lost 13-4. 

Girls’ Water Polo (Max Berglind)

The girls’ water polo team wrapped up their regular season with four games last week. Metea lost all their games but will start their sectional tournament on Monday.
