Weekly Sports Beats 9/20-9/26

Boys’ Cross Country (Max Berglind)
The team did not have a meet this past week. Their next meet is scheduled for Saturday in Elgin.

Girls’ Cross Country (Nick Vallejo)
The girls’ did not have a meet this past week. Their next upcoming match is the St. Charles North Invite on Oct. 2.

Boys’ Football (Nick Vallejo)
Metea played at home against DeKalb on Friday. Metea started the first two quarters with confidence from their win last week. DeKalb made a comeback but in the end, Metea dominated and the game ended 29-21. Metea plays their next game at Waubonsie this Friday.

Boys’ Golf (Max Berglind)
The golf team won last Monday’s Wildcat Invite with a score of 301. Two days later, the team also won the Aurora City Championship, shooting a 293.

Girls’ Golf (Grace Davidson)
The Mustangs faced Central this past Wednesday. The girls’ pulled out a win of 172-197. They went on to beat Waubonsie 168-187 which brought their duel-match record to 8-2. Junior Abby Terada was the MVP in both games. The team faces Batavia today and Waubonsie on Tuesday. They will also be attending the DVC Conference Championship on Wednesday and the Naperville North Rosie Invitational on Saturday.

Boys’ Soccer (Grace Davidson)
The boys’ beat Waubonsie 6-3 in DVC play last Tuesday. They went on to compete in the PepsiCo Challenge on Sunday. Their next match is against Neuqua on Tuesday, followed by a game against East Aurora on Thursday. Lastly, the Mustangs finish the week with a match against Marmion on Saturday.

Girls’ Swim and Dive (Grace Davidson)
The team faced Waubonsie Valley this past Thursday. The Mustangs won the 200-yard medley relay, 50-yard freestyle, 100-yard butterfly, and the 100-yard backstroke. However, Waubonsie was able to squeak by with a close win 96-90 leaving the Mustangs defeated. The girls’ next meet is against Neuqua. The diving team competes at the Downers Grove Invite on Friday and the swimming team competes Saturday.

Girls’ Tennis (Grace Cronin)
The Mustangs lost against Neuqua this last Thursday. The girls’ placed second at the Downers Grove North Invite beating Riverside Brookfield and Bolingbrook. Their next match is against Naperville North this Tuesday.

Girls’ Volleyball (Grace Cronin)
The girls’ beat Downers Grove South in matches last Thursday. They placed fifth in the Wheaton classic out of 24 teams beating Benet and Loyola in two matches this last Saturday. Senior Libero Morgan Rank was named All-Tournament Team at the Wheaton Classic. The team will face DeKalb this Tuesday.
