Weekly Sports Beats 10/25-10/31

Boys’ Cross Country (Max Berglind)

The Mustangs traveled to Oswego East for their IHSA regional meet on Saturday. Sophomores Rameez Abrar (16:40) and Nathan Behr (16:45) led the way for Metea. 

Girls’ Cross Country (Nick Vallejo) 

The girls competed at the IHSA regionals and placed fourth on Saturday. Senior Sarah Maggio (17:43) placed third and senior Keeley Behr (18:00) placed seventh.

Boys’ Football (Nick Vallejo) 

The Mustangs played at Naperville Central this past Friday. Metea started the game well, tallying a score of 14-0. The game was tight for the first couple quarters, but eventually the Redhawks got a hold of the game and won with a comfortable score of 45-21.

Boys’ Soccer (Grace Davidson)

The boys’ faced Oswego and Oswego East in the IHSA regional semifinals last Tuesday. The Mustangs were able to pull a 4-3 victory over the Panthers after a double overtime. The win allowed them to advance to the regional final where they played Oswego East on Friday. Unfortunately, the team fell to defeat, ending their 2021 season. 

Girls’ Swim and Dive (Grace Davidson)

During their first day at conference, senior Jessica Vogt placed fifth in the 50 free and sixth in 100 fly. Naperville North placed first with 292, and Metea ended fourth with 202.5. Girls that placed and made it to sectionals will swim Nov. 6. 

Girls’ Volleyball (Grace Cronin) 

The girls’ went up against Naperville North winning in two sets naming them the conference champions last Tuesday. They would continue with their wins against Naperville Central on their senior night, winning in a three set game finishing their regular season 10-0 in the conference last Thursday. Their next game is regionals this upcoming Tuesday.
