Weekly Sports Beats 11/8-11/14

Girls’ Cross Country (Nick Vallejo) 

The girls ran in the state meet at Detweiller Park last Saturday. Sarah Maggio (17:28) finished No. 29 and Keeley Behr (17:50) finished No. 55, ending the teams season with personal bests for both girls. 

Girls’ Swim and Dive (Grace Davidson)

The team traveled to Neuqua Valley for sectionals this past Saturday. They placed sixth overall with a score of 101. The 200 Medley Relay team with junior Halle Reifsnyder, senior Madeline Walbridge, junior Amanda Schmitt qualified for state. Schmitt also qualified for the 100 butterfly and Leslie additionally qualified for the 50 free. The 200 Free Relay team missed qualifying for state by one-tenth of a second. State is set to be held Friday and Saturday this week. 

Girls’ Volleyball (Grace Cronin)

The girls’ faced Yorkville in the semi-sectional finals winning 25-14 and 25-20 advancing them to the finals last Monday. They went against Plainfield North in the sectional finals, with a two-set win declaring the girls’ sectional champions and earning them a spot in the super-sectional last Wednesday. The team finished the week with another win in the super sectionals against Andrew High School making them state-bound last Friday. Their next game is the semi-finals for state at Illinois State University this upcoming Friday.
