Weekly Sports Beats 4/11-4/17

Girls’ Badminton (Grace Cronin)

The girls’ competed against Hinsdale Central last Monday, Neuqua Valley on Thursday, and at the Metea Invite on Saturday. Their next match is a quad at Lake Park East today.

Boys’ Baseball (Nick Vallejo)

The boys’ played against Yorkville on Saturday. Yorkville took the win 7-5. The Mustangs are traveling to Waubonsie Valley today.

Boys’ Lacrosse (Grace Davidson)

The upcoming games are against Neuqua on Wednesday, and Plainfield North on Friday.

Girls’ Lacrosse (Grace Davidson)

The Mustangs won 13-7 against Naperville Central last Wednesday. They play Wheaton Warrenville South today, Neuqua on Wednesday, and Glenbard West on Friday.  

Girls’ Soccer (Grace Davidson)

The girls’ bested Wheaton Warrenville South 2-0 last Tuesday. Then in the Parkway Showcase, the team just fell short of a victory, losing 2-1 to Lafayette on Friday, which would mark their first loss of the season. Next, the Mustangs faced Nerinx Hall in the Parkway Showcase losing 4-2 on Saturday. Their next game is against Neuqua tomorrow. The girls’ have their senior night game against Batavia on Saturday. In the Body Armor Sports Series, the Mustangs are also scheduled to play Maine South on Sunday.

Girls’ Softball (Grace Cronin)

The girls’ played against Geneva, winning 14-2 last Monday. Their next game was a tough one against Benet Academy where the Mustangs lost 10-9 on Tuesday. The Mustangs finished their week with a win against DeKalb 11-0 on Thursday. Their next game is against Waubonsie today.

Boys’ Tennis (Grace Cronin)

The boys competed against St. Charles East on Monday and Wheaton North on Tuesday. Their next match was against Waubonsie where they lost 4-3 on Thursday. The team finished off their week playing in the Lincoln Way Central tournament. Their next match is against York on Wednesday.

Boys’ Track and Field (Grace Cronin)

The boys’ competed at the DVC Neuqua Tri meet last Tuesday. The Mustangs next competed at their home invite where they finished fourth overall with 90 points on Saturday. The 4×100 team finished first with a time of 3:31.96. Their next meet is against Waubonsie on Tuesday.

Girls’ Track and Field (Grace Davidson)

The girls’ had the 204 Tri meet last Tuesday with Naperville Central and Neuqua Valley. Metea snagged the top three in the 200 meters, senior Maria Lambert placed first, sophomore Kyla Harris placed second, and sophomore Makayla Murrell placed third. Harris also placed first in the 400 meter and Lambert placed second. Senior Sarah Maggio placed first in the 1600 meter. Junior Kelli Blissett placed first in the 300 meter hurdles. The girls’ also placed first in the 4×100 relay with Lambert, Murrell, Harris, and senior Paige Fox-Hall. The team also impressively placed first in both the 4×200 and the 4×400 relay. Sophomore Sydni Ellison-Muse placed first in shot put and second in discus. Sophomore Annastasia Murphy placed first in the high jump and Blissett placed second. Sophomore Molly Beardsley placed first in the long jump. Overall it was an incredibly successful meet for the Mustangs. The team also had a meet at Minooka on Thursday. Harris placed second in the 200 meters, third in the 100 meters, and first in the 400 meters. Sophomore Maya Hall placed second in the 800 meter. Maggio placed first in the 1600 meters. Murphy placed second in the high jump. Overall Metea placed fourth. The girls’ have a meet tomorrow, and the Neuqua Valley Invite on Friday.

Boys’ Volleyball (Grace Davidson)

The team won 2-0  against St. Francis on Monday. In the Tiger Classic the boys’ lost 2-1 to Oswego, won 2-1 against Neuqua Valley, and won 2-1 against Loyola Academy on Thursday and Saturday. They face South Elgin today, Geneva on Wednesday, and Waubonsie on Thursday. 

Boys’ Water Polo (Grace Cronin)

The boys’ started their week off with a tough game against Naperville North, losing 12-10 on Tuesday. Their next game was against St. Rita where the boys’ finished with a close win of 14-13 last Wednesday. They were able to earn another win against St. Charles East 18-7 on Thursday. The Mustangs finished off their week at the Waubonsie invite where they won against St. Charles East 14-4, Niles West 7-2, and Highland Park 14-3, losing against Waubonsie 8-5. Their next game is against Naperville Central tomorrow. 

Girls’ Water Polo (Grace Davidson)

The team lost to Naperville North 17-0 last Tuesday. The Mustangs won their game against St. Charles East 19-10 on Thursday. They have a game against Naperville Central tomorrow, and the girls’ will participate in the Valley Varsity Tournament on Friday and Saturday.
