Weekly Sports Beats 5/22-5/31

Girls’ Lacrosse 

The girls’ had their sectionals against Naperville North last Monday. They lost to the Huskies 14-11, marking the end of their season. The team ended with a conference score of 2-5 and overall score of 9-9.

Girls’ Soccer 

Last Tuesday, the team won the sectional semifinals against Neuqua 2-1. They then went on to face Naperville North in the sectional finals and beat them 1-0 this past Friday. The Mustangs will move on to super sectionals against Edwardsville tomorrow. 

Boys’ Tennis 

Junior Aadit Gandhi qualified for singles at state. Gandhi won two games at state, 8-2 against Rockton and 8-3 against Normal. He did not advance to placement. Junior Akshay Baid and senior Nikunj Tyagi qualified for doubles at state. They lost two and won two of the games they played, but also did not place. 

Boys’ Track and Field 

Senior Jalen Johnson placed ninth in the finals for the 110 meter hurdles. No other state qualifiers from Metea placed in the finals. This concludes the boys’ track and field season. 

Boys’ Volleyball 

The boys’ made significant advancements in the regionals, winning in two sets against Illinois Math and Science Academy and then winning after three sets to St. Francis. However, in the regional finals the team fell just short of sectionals losing to Hinsdale Central this past Thursday. Their great season ended with a 7-1 conference score.
