Robert Kennedy Jr.
71 years old on inauguration day
- LGBTQIA+ rights: Kennedy said “Who says that we shouldn’t respect gay rights.” and that he would do anything he can to make sure those rights are protected. He also said that it’s important to respect people with different gender identities and that they “shouldn’t ever be shamed,” yet he has been wary of supporting gender-affirming care for transgender minors.
- Israel and Palestine: On X (formerly Twitter) Kennedy posted “As President, I’ll make sure that our policy is unambiguous so that the enemies of Israel will think long and hard before attempting aggression of any kind.”
- Climate change: When announcing his presidential run, Kennedy said “In 100% of the situations, good environmental policy is identical to good economic policy,” and has promised to protect wild lands by curbing logging, oil drilling, and mining.
- Abortion rights: “It is always the woman’s right to choose,” said Kennedy. He does not support legislation banning abortion.
