National Signing Day was last Wednesday. The following athletes were celebrated with their commitment to continuing their athletic career:

Girls’ Basketball (Jose Collado)

The girls took three tough losses this week. Their Monday night loss to Nazareth was hard-fought, but the girls came up short nevertheless 44-50. The girls had their Senior Night game against DeKalb last Thursday. They came up short with a final score of 30-58. They ended the week with a disappointing 28-41 loss to Naperville North. The girls play again tomorrow at home against Neuqua Valley at 7:00 p.m.

Boys’ Basketball (Tyler Perry)

The team had one game last week. Their game was against the Dekalb Barbs. The Mustangs kept it close the whole game but could not recover and lost to a score of 58-63. As their season is beginning to end, the black and gold play one of their last games in Elk Grove. The game will start at 7:00 p.m.

Girls’ Bowling (Tyler Perry)

The girls traveled to Wheaton for IHSA Regionals last Saturday. They came out of the matches in third place which qualified them for sectionals. The last time the team qualified for sectionals was back in 2014. They will compete on Saturday.

Girls’ Gymnastics (Leland Pan)

The team headed to IHSA Regionals last Monday. Senior Thalia Bowen placed fifth overall, and Waubonsie’s Destiny Carter placed third overall. The team will head to Hinsdale Central tomorrow for IHSA Sectionals. 

Boys’ Hockey (Elena Buscher)

The boys started off the week with a game against Neuqua Valley on Monday. After numerous penalties on both ends, the Warriors won 5-2. Later in the week, they played Maine, winning 7-2 on Thursday. 

Special Olympics Basketball (Leland Pan)

The Mustangs held ‘Pack the House’ last Tuesday. The Unified team will play Regionals at Plano on Saturday at 12 p.m. 

Boys’ Wrestling (Alex Bedore): The boy’s participated in the IHSA Regional tournament at Marmion on Saturday. Sectional qualifier, Sean Burke, went 3-0 at the tournament and aims to qualify for State at the Hinsdale Central Sectional this Friday.

Boys’ Swim and Dive (Elena Buscher)

The boys competed at the DVC Conference meet at Naperville Central this Saturday. Multiple fast swims were recorded for the Mustangs, including Jeddrick Gamilla placing first in the 100 breast, third in the 200 IM, and fourth in the 200 free relay. Their next meet is Saturday for the IHSA Sectionals.
