Weekly Sports Update: 9/5 – 9/9

Boys’ Football By Kellie Foy
This week, all three teams took a loss against Naperville Central at home. Varsity took another narrow loss while putting in endless effort in a 25-28 nailbiter. All three teams will be at home again this week going up against Wheaton North.

Boy’s Soccer By Connor Smith
Varsity Boys Soccer started their week with a 2-4 loss at Neuqua on Tuesday, as well as a 0-6 loss at Naperville North on Wednesday. However, they gained some momentum with a 2-2 draw against New Trier at the annual PepsiCo Challenge on Saturday. Goals were scored by Nathan Barrett and Ethan Ytterberg. In addition, JV1 had a successful week, defeating Neuqua 7-0 on Tuesday, and shutting out Niles West 1-0 on Saturday.

Cheer By Kainin Blissett
This week, the Mustang cheerleaders held a Mini Mustang clinic with the future Mustangs. During their time, they taught them a cheer, a dance, and practiced stunting and tumbling. On Friday during the sophomore football team’s game against Naperville Central, the cheer team and future Mustangs performed their Mustang Mania routine during the sophomore games at half time.

Girls’ Volleyball By Sameen Ali
Girl’s Volleyball played against Geneva in their first home game on Wednesday. The sophomore team won all three of their sets, but Varsity lost their first game despite playing hard, losing to Geneva in two sets. On Friday, the girls came back with a win against Hinsdale South, defeating them 25-15 and 25-17. The sophomore girls won their game again, beating the opposing team after winning two of their sets, and Freshman A took all three sets in their game. Over the weekend, the Freshman B team finished second at the Plainfield East tournament.

Girls’ Tennis By Trinity Powell
Girls’ Tennis has a match on Tuesday against Wheaton North. Varsity will be at home, while JV will be away. Their quad on Sept. 10 was cancelled. On Thursday, they’re playing Waubonsie, where varsity will be away while JV plays at home.
