Weekly Sports Update: 10/10 – 10/14

Boys’ Football By Kellie Foy
This past week, the varsity team took a tough loss against the Glenbard North Panthers, losing 15-29. However, the sophomore team beat the Panthers 31-0. This upcoming week, the football units will be up against Lincoln-Way Central on the Knights’ field for their last game of the season.

Boys’ Soccer By Connor Smith
Last week, varsity tied West Aurora 0-0 on Tuesday, with a stellar performance from goalkeeper Kevin Branch. JV1 also tied West Aurora 1-1 on Tuesday with the lone goal coming from Spencer Collins, and ended its season Thursday with a capitalizing 4-1 win over Plainfield North. Goals were scored by Adam Bose (2), Prithvi Bandaru, and Davis Quarles. JV2 also finished its season, with a 3-0 shutout victory over Geneva. Finally, the freshman team ended what has been a stellar season, with a 1-1 draw to Plainfield North this past Thursday.

Girls’ Golf By Brianna Powell
The varsity girls’ golf team sent sophomore Madison Neihart and senior Madison Grezlik to the IHSA sectional on Tuesday, held at Broken Arrow golf course. Neihart shot a 89 while Grezlik shot a 103. Their performances capped off an incredible season for the Lady Mustangs.

Girls’ Volleyball By Sameen Ali
Girls’ Volleyball started the week off with a game against Lake Park on Tuesday. All of the teams won their games, with the sophomores remaining undefeated in conference. On Thursday, Varsity beat Wheaton Warrenville South 25-17 in two sets. The Lady Mustangs will be playing against Glenbard North during Senior Night this Tuesday, and will be away at St. Charles East later this week.

Girls’ Tennis By Trinity Powell
The top singles and doubles players from the varsity tennis squad took on IHSA sectionals on Saturday at West Aurora High School. The team took a 2nd place finish behind last year top 10 state finisher Naperville Central. Freshman Taylor Goldman and seniors Stacy Wei and Michelle He advance to the IHSA State Final next weekend, in singles and doubles play respectively.

Girls’ Cross Country By Brittany Coates
On Friday, the girls competed at the DuPage Valley Conference Championships, where they placed 3rd overall with a total score of 78. Standouts include Leana Goldman, Nicki Cast, and Terri Scarlett, who placed 6th, 11th, and 16th, respectively individually. Next Saturday, the varsity team will compete at the IHSA regional meet at Kress Creek Farm in West Chicago.

Boys’ Cross Country By Brittany Coates
On Friday, the boys also competed at the DuPage Valley Conference Championships, placing 8th overall with a total score of 197. Junior Ralph Papa placed 5th overall individually. Next Saturday, the varsity team will compete at the IHSA regional meet at Kress Creek Farm in West Chicago.

Girls’ Swim and Dive By Maddie Crabtree and Rahul Tamta
Girls’ Swim and Dive had a meet at Naperville North this Thursday, and Jessica Bartosz won in the diving competition. The girls have senior night this week, and a varsity invite this upcoming Saturday.
