Farewell Friday: Lucas Francisco

Where do you plan on going to college?

University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.

What do you plan on majoring in?

I will be attending the Engineering school at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. My major, “Engineer Undeclared” only accepts 100 students, so I am extremely happy to be attending University of Illinois. Although my major is undeclared, I know I will be doing something in the field of engineering.

How did you get interested in that career choice?

My dad is an engineer and as a kid he would build Legos and larger projects with me. I also really enjoy designing and creating thing and my favorite thing about engineering is the fact that you have to pay attention to even the smallest details.

What was your favorite memory at Metea?

I think my favorite memory at Metea was my junior year English class. I always looked forward to my seventh period English class with Mrs. Thomas.

What are you going to miss most about high school?

I am going to miss how easy it is. I like how high school gives me the opportunity to balance my free time and still do well in school and I anticipate during college it will be harder to navigate that.

What are you looking forward to in college?

I am looking forward to connecting with a lot of new people because Illinois is such a large school and I hope make a greater impact on my community by joining new society’s at the University. I am also excited to participate in personalized classes and start learning more about my passions.
